Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) Myrrh has been used for thousands of years in healing ceremonies and religious practices.. The oil is made from the sap of the myrrh tree in a steam distilling process. Two of its chemical components, terpenoids and sesquiterpenes, have strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Sesquiterpenes also have a strong effect on the emotional center of the brain, the hypothalamus, helping us to feel calm and balanced. Its antioxidant effects make it efficient as an anti-aging agent, and for skin rejuvenation. In addition, it is an antiseptic, antibacterial and a toner.
